These Foods Effectively Reduce the Level of Stress
When you feel nervous, too stressful or under pressure assemble a meal from the next few foods, which will help you return to normal very soon.
Sweet potatoes – They may be helpful in reducing stress because they satisfy your need for sugars and carbohydrates. They contain a beta-carotene and other vitamins that help your body to process the carbohydrates slowly and with constant pace.
Dried peaches – They contain a big amount of magnesium that reduces the stress and at the same time naturally relaxes your muscles.
Oranges – A German study in the psychopharmacology showed that vitamin C reduces the stress and restores the blood pressure and cortisol to normal levels after a stressful situation. Vitamin C is also good for improving the immune system.
Almonds, pistachios and nuts – almonds contain vitamins B and E that improve your immune system and pistachios and nuts also assist in lowering the blood pressure.
Turkey meat – Contains an amino acid called L-tryptophan, which encourages the release of aerotonin, a brain chemical that causes you to feel good. That is the reason why many people after eating turkey meat reported feeling relaxed and tired. It is well known that L-tryptophan has a calming effect.
Spinach – A lack of magnesium can cause migraine headaches and a feeling of tiredness. A plate of spinach allows 40% of the daily requirement of magnesium for your body.
Salmon – Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids protect against heart disease. A new study has shown that they are very effective in keeping the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline at normal levels.
Green vegetables – Broccoli and other dark green vegetables are rich in many vitamins that assist your body during stressful situations.
Avocado – mono saturated fats and potassium in avocados lower the blood pressure. National Institute of Lung, Heart and Blood published a study that says that the best way to lower blood pressure is to consume enough potassium (avocados contain potassium in a greater amount than the banana).
Other tips to reduce stress:
- Regular exercise
- Drink an energy shake for breakfast
- During the whole day eat smaller meals, which will help you maintain the level of blood sugar (when it is low it reduces the mental, physical and psychological energy, and it increases the level of stress).
